About Sumaphelia

Hi! I'm Sumalee, a writer, costumer, dancer (not that kind!), model and aspiring burlesque stripteuse (still not that kind!) living and working in sunny Florida.

I grew up in a super bohemian household with my artist parents and awesome younger brother. This led to a crazy, crafty, liberal, feminazi young adult Sumalee. After spending a year out of state at a four year, private liberal arts university that costs more than Princeton (with about an eighth of its reputation), I flew back home, fell in love and now find myself somewhere I never imagined I would be: 20-something with a conservative live-in boyfriend, a 13-year-old stepdaughter, and the smelliest cat Phoebe ever dreamed of. I'm 50% hausfrau, 50% stripteuse, 100% insanity.

Sound like a sitcom? Well, it's not. It's my life. And it's awesome.

This blog is a chronicle (albeit a spotty one) of me attempting to adjust to a life I never imagined myself having, a life I'm learning I really love! As it turns out, you can be domestic without being a drone, and just because I drive a kid to school every day doesn't mean I can't be young and ambitious. My life is filled with interesting stories, the oddest assortment of people, tons of good meals, plans for the future, and Mad Men. Lots and lots of Mad Men.
